We have taught European history forever but nothing about this countrys history. My guess is because much of it is pretty awful. It has been whitewashed through the years. This period will be white washed as well. Herding brown people into concentration camps, corrupt Supreme Court, president etc

ALL of our history needs to be taught. There is much to be learned from the mistakes that were made in the past but ignoring the “warts” of history makes us poorer as a society and more apt to repeat it.

I'd suggest that if your not seeing it taught, you're living in the wrong place. I learned about ToT in my public school decades ago, and my daughter learned about it in her public school (along with things like the Tulsa massacre in ~1920 and Haymarket in ~1890)

I think there's a great number of things that should be taught in our schools. That have fallen by the wayside . Take their cell phones , take away the classroom computers , their x box . Bring back reading writing, and arithmetic . Until the students can crunch numbers in their heads and on paper .

100% i think I was 15 before we had a video game. Cell phones were not even a thing. Life was a lit simpler, andbtge education way better
