I want a COVID shot too. But unfortunately I’m 62 & don’t have any of the underlying conditions so I doubt I will be able to get one.

I'm 64 and was unsure about it. But I got a text this week from CVS that COVID and flu shots are available. Yay! I live in California. But I wonder about next year . . .
My pharmacist put me off last week when I asked about them. He said we’re telling everyone to wait until October so we have more clarity about who can get them. And if they are going to get new formula for vaccines. Needless to say I wasn’t happy.
You can’t get one even if you want one?
Not sure anymore. I keep finding conflicting on who was eligible or not. The pharmacist said he was told to wait until October to get further verification on who was eligible or not. And supposedly they would have an updated vaccine by then. Needless to say I’m mad.
I’m a cancer survivor, so I can probably still get one. But none of the people who live with me would be able to! This is all so wrong.
I’m glad you’re getting your COVID vaccine at least.
My grandson is immunocompromised, so the family would all get the booster since his doctors won’t allow him to. But this year the pharmacist is putting us off until October until he gets more clarity about who can get them and the supposed new formulation.
Wut? Canadian. Get a phone alert when the newest vax is available. Book at any pharmacy or yr dr's office. You guys have to pay up front? Thanking my lucky stars every day to be born here. Thank you Tommy Douglas.
At least right now in California, the vaccine is available and free.
I'm 52 and my daughter is 17 and we are both pissed that we can't get COVID shots 🤬
Why? And please don't say, "aren't you paying attention". My brain is fried with all this Trump shit. But I ask why, because ours are still available. (CA)
The CDC/RFK Jr said only those 65 and older should get it (and those w certain health conditions). Insurance probably won't cover it for us under the new recs. I have to check mine.
I'm so sorry. And I know they're expensive.
I thought they were still available too (per the internet search ) but Kroger Pharmacist told me to wait until October until they got more information on who’s eligible & updated vaccine. It’s been over a year since my last booster. I’m embarrassed to say my response wasn’t very nice.
I got a booster in January but my daughter was October so I'm wondering if I should just get her a booster now even though it's last years formula. I hear the strains are still close
I would have settled for that honestly, but the pharmacist was adamant I couldn’t get it. While the younger lady pharmacist in the back was pumping her fist & cheering me on, as I complained about the new restrictions. 😂
You are 62 and nobody should be able to deny you that. 1. Since there are no Long Lasting plasma cells induced by past infections or vaccines - there is no immunity after about ~4 months. 2. Each infection can have variable course some severe and some asymptomatic - severe ones hit bad.
3. Even mild or asymptomatic one can induce end organ damage, through viral persistence induced Long Covid or induce immune dysregulation - allergic or autoimmune diseases or cancer 4. Go armed with these facts and due to no mitigations - you are prone for recurrent infections and these outcomes.
Hope that works for you
Thanks for the info. I was shocked the pharmacist didn’t seem as informed as I was. He just kept telling me to wait until October and they would know more. Needless to say I will be going elsewhere for my flu shot, & hopefully COVID vax.
The list of exceptions to the age rule for COVID booster include depression and inactivity.I don’t think you have to provide evidence.
