The sooner that private landlording of domestic property is outlawed the better. It pushes up house prices, is not correctly taxed (I like Labour’s idea of including NI) and traps people in poverty.

I don’t think it should be outlawed, but high controls and proportionate taxes should help professionalise that investment choice. Far too many messing around in it not knowing what they’re doing. This was encouraged by many political choices over the last 30 years including workplace pension cuts.

Ok, middle ground option: 1) Ban private landlords buying new build properties 2) ban them from buying existing domestic housing that has been put up for sale on the market for less than 1 month 3) ban direct title transfer between landlords
