Didn’t some stations drop Family Feud because Richard Dawson kissed black women?

This is why those "Never Trump" republicans are disingenuous. They decry what their party has become but fail to admit where the GOP always was. They did not shout it down when they saw it. They played a role in it's proliferation today. They're shocked, I say, shocked. s/
It's the worst crime imaginable: giving white folk the vapors.
I'm a lifelong Texan. I remember the controversy over this awesome show (Although I am more of a Mr Rogers girl 🥰). I also remember people expressing alarm and hatred about "Villa Alegre". I loved that show, I'm always hoping to find it on DVD or something.
Not to mention people weren’t exactly happy when Mr Rogers was soaking his feet in a kiddie pool & shared it with the postman, who was Black.
When I was a kid, people made jokes about how he must be gay and a wimp because he was so nice and understanding. They thought he was unmanly.
More than that. He washed the Black postman’s feet.
What???
More about this is here, if you're interested... www.biography.com/actors/miste...
Yeah, misremembered and confused the officer with the postman. But still got the main part of it correct. :)
Yep, you got the most important parts correct :-)
Thanks
Still the dumbest state?
This is the same idiotic state that didn’t know slavery had ended until Lincoln (2012) was shown in theaters. So this doesn’t surprise me at all
All the calamity is disturbing 😳….
I remember being a kid in Tennessee in the 70s and they banned certain episodes of Soap. Fundie evangelical theocrats can't stand anything that threatens their agenda.
I remember that! Even my arch- conservative parents didn't care if I watched Soap.
Soap was canceled because people complained it was too raunchy. It was getting good ratings. No way would a show ever get canceled today that was getting good ratings just because people were complaining it was too raunchy.
The so-called Moral Majority basically bullied Soap off the air.
this reminds me of the story Charles Schulz tells about the Peanuts character Franklin and how Southern editors tried to threaten him/punish him for including a Black kid joining Charlie Brown's classroom. the concept of integration was THAT explosive to them that comic strips were subversive.
😢
