I adopted a 9-year-old 120lb shepherd/pitbull mix that had been in the shelter for over 9 months. It was one of the most rewarding experiences and relationships of my life. She passed about 3 months ago from cancer (fuck cancer), but I wouldn't trade a minute of it.

Glad to hear he's ok. I have a 12 year old low thyroid diabetic dog. She's due for her wellness checkup soon. I agree with the apprehension. Plus this girl especially hates the car ride and is not fond of the vets office either, so she's always in panic mode when I take her.
