No self respecting Californian ever disrespects San Francisco by calling it "San Fran". He went and destroyed a homeless encampment in Los Angeles, with camera crew in tow.
A much better abbreviation would be S.F. not San Fran. Wouldn't have even been a question.

Sports isn't the reason for being transgender. Comments are over the top for reasoning. They actually think going through the process of changing gender is something an elite athlete would go through to GET a gold medal! The years of hormone shots, breast reconstruction, changing genitalia? NO!
Transgender people can form teams where they could compete against others with the same transgender identity. That should eliminate the controversy. But it'll be 100 years from now! Due to people not EASILY giving them the respect they deserve. Transgender is centuries old and accepted for millenia!
