(I don't disagree with your take, mind you- but IMO the gut impulse of disgust when a dead actor gets AI-resurrected has a lot more to do with the fact that the models are built by large companies in unscrupulous ways, so it's not clear whose values are going into the artistic process)
I think that's somewhat true (especially now) that we're troubled by the inputs and outputs. In some ways I'm more specifically considering even the act of imitation or caricature in an embodied performance *adding* something that a desired perfect replica would deprive us of.
