I am not a prepper
I am not a prepper
It's not that I'm a prepper, on the contrary I'm just so chaotic I still have tins of food and dried goods I bought years ago that I never got round to using and they're probably still fine....
beans do eventually get to where no matter how long you cook 'em, they don't soften. Still edible just not tasty
That’s what salt is for!
I guess I was thinking of texture; it was a mouthful of hard nubbins in a watery broth — no beany flavor leaking out to make the broth flavorful or thicken it. I broke the beans into smaller and smaller nubbins with my teeth as I chewed but it was really not a good meal.
IF you have or can afford a vacuum sealer, using it for storage of beans, rice, sugar, flour, and other shelf stable items increases their life span AND keeps the inevitable & undetectable insect eggs from becoming larvae and eating your food. You don't see mealworms in vacuum sealed food.
What do you vacuum seal them in, though? I don't really trust plastic over long periods. I've just gone for glass jars for pasta & rice etc.
I put them in the bags that come with the machine.
Neither am i. I'm just trying to get past this and recover from every down turn my family had in finances from covid
We can't afford to be preppers. Buying what we need when we need it is about as good as it gets.
I get that, but you really should have a few days worth of supplies, even when the world isn't going through the shredder.
Don't 'should' on people.
I can do whatever TF I want, thanks. You don't see any irony in telling me what to do for recommending something that is practical and correct? K. So by all means, please don't have any food or supplies if your power goes out because of a storm or something simple. Let's see how that works for ya.
No time like the present...
For a second there I thought you were taking a firm contrary stance on an 1970's soda issue.
I didn't used to be but I'm hardening my property.
Because being too broke to even afford what you should be able to purchase sets you up perfectly to store enough food for 6 months for your entire family.
I am a planner, but not a prepper. 🙂
Wouldn't you like to be a prepper too? Sorry, your post made me think of the old Dr. Pepper commercial.
Ahhhhhhh!!!!
I’m a prepper, you’re a prepper, she’s a prepper, he’s a prepper … wouldn’t you like to be a prepper too.
Best learn.
I would be if I could afford it.
