Whether or not you think guns should be banned in the US, haven't other countries figured out ways to prevent easy legal acquisition of firearms? I feel like gun laws of other nations could be useful models if we wish to go that route

its a good thought, but the 2nd amendment and resulting jurisprudence is more or less unique. it means the US really can't just emulate most other laws without a major change to our constitution, which is really politically non-viable. i think the best chance is probably red-flag laws more than bans

I...guess in theory if you pack SCOTUS hard enough and have them effectively read the 2A out of existence you wouldn't need a constitutional amendment, but I think our constitution has suffered enough abuse since this February as it is
