So, he probably threatened them to do this.

This plus ca9 decision makes martial law inevitable
Snarks are normal in the WH. But this one is a Boojum. bsky.app/profile/snar...
Been mulling since it came out and have not been able to come up with a legitimate rationale for this decision. Anybody?
Legitimate to whom? "Fuck those brown folk" is all the justification the American right-wing needs these days.
I feel like any other justification they come up with is just an excuse.
Well, there's also "we won't let liberal Dem commies get in our way," which is how they will justify renditioning white citizens into foreign slavery.
No doubt. We're not all going to make it to Canada.
I’m presupposing the majority are concerned that going against it may be overstepping their judicial authority. That is to say, they are concerned about themselves personally if they rule against Trump.
I feel that's partly it But also realizing they can make the law whatever they want, and using that to mete out injustice on undeserving.
Why stop now? Conservatism is essentially the conservation of an unjust societal state.
Correct. We need actual strategies to fight against this.
They could be that cowardly. I really want to know their reasoning on this. Their credibility now is just zero.
It’s a white supremacist / segregationist court - as is every single professional Republican. They want brown people out. I think it really that simple.
In the absence of any explanation I have seen that makes legal or constitutional sense since Bush v. Gore, I can't find another explanation. They just aren't able to conceive of POC or women as equal beings. From the content of their speeches to private groups, they think libs are evil.
It would make sense if the john roberts court wants to help the US "government" establish and operate a human trafficking network.
Right. Of course, that occurred to me, but then I thought, now why would they sanction wasting all that money on secret plane rides around the world to exotic destinations, free meals, and matching outfits?
If there were one, they would have written it.
They must have written something. I just want to know what possible reasoning they could have used as an excuse for this. It's unconscionable.
They want Donald Trump to be our king.
I’ve been asking this question since the ruling came down… wouldn’t there be anything in writing?!?! We need to hear the rationale for the formerly Supreme Court supporting human trafficking…
This and Trump v. US are among the bottom five decisions of all time, in fact.
I'm with you on this one! It's like they're trying to solve a puzzle blindfolded. What's the real reason behind this decision?
Oligarchy. Theocracy. Settling decade upon decade upon decade of grievance by fundamentalists and ultra capitalists at them having any constraints placed on them.
The “6” are far right - following Trump ——- not the Constitution or rule of law. It is illegitimate.
I can’t stop thinking about it.
If there’s a dream where we win enough seats to accomplish it…are any of these blatantly unconstitutional rulings enough for impeachment of a few judges?
They should all end up at the Hague facing human trafficking charges.
The buck stops with John Roberts! This court could function IF Roberts grew a pair! Roberts is leader of America’s Judiciary’
🚨
Yes it is. The ROBERTS COURT has basically sanctioned placing HUMAN BEINGS including Children INTO CONCENTRATION CAMPS. Stephen Miller and Russell Vought are bring us back to Nazi Germany, with Mob Boss’s blessing.
I’m pretty convinced it’s Leonard Leo who decides the cases.
It's time for decent people to treat the conservatives on SCOTUS like the Nazi-esque criminals that they are showing themselves to be. Lobby the ICC to start issuing warrants for their participation in a campaign of terror and crimes against humanity so they can't take posh European vacations.
The SCOTUS GOP Team of Six knows EXACTLY what they did. They are now openly in support of this ongoing anti-democracy anti-Constitution GOP Coup.
we've become the three little pigs...our house is not standing up to the huff and puffs of the big bad wolves.
I don’t understand how the order was unexplained and unsigned. It’s an affront to our constitution and what we thought of as basic American values and rights.
bsky.app/profile/did:...
We should check John Roberts’ bank account. This one is egregious. Or hack his crypto wallet.
“A never forget what you did for me!”
This is one reason for Supreme Court reform! Clarence Thomas is just dirty, needs to be impeached and tried for treason!
The entire fascist wing needs to be tried.
This!!!
Odd of us that we keep paying for our own demise.
📌
we should let louis out to scare these f ers into reality
There is nothing stopping them from deporting US citizens- no charges, no due process, your family has no idea where you are, you end up in a foreign prison for life.
There is no freedom in the USA if SCOTUS can authorize the executive to break the law without explanation.
I'd argue its the worst thing it's ever done, and certainly by a senior court, utterly disgraceful!
Same thing I was thinking yesterday. A clear signal from SCOTUS that they’ll barge in on his behalf to neutralize any contempt exposure.
(Although it sounds like the judge disagrees!)
And they've been doing that since they've got in. They're a regime led by the random and chaotic decisions of this guy... SMH.
I wept Enabling and legitimising even more cruelty is not something one expected from a group of so called constitutional scholars and justices. Even this cowardly and corrupted group.
The length, depth and intensity of the dissent is alarming in and of itself. The message is logic is broken, only political agendas drive court rulings (5-4 or 6-3)
What’s the big deal? It’s not like DOJ is telling folks to flout court orders or anything…
📌
They don’t care
Let’s deport Ginni Thomas.
sick, just what we all need
I'd go further and say it's the worst thing they've done since Roberts was confirmed. This strips the protection of the rule of law from everyone, not just immigrants. It's basically a green light to tyranny.
Fascists have been working at this for decades, slowly chipping away and laying the groundwork for what's happening today. People have been screaming alarms since Bush era, but dems have done nothing when they've been in power to prevent this, dismissing concerns. Now here we are.
The only part of the US government that has somewhat been functioning as an equal power is the courts. Unfortunately they have no enforcement powers and the Trump regime just ignores them. Then the Supreme Court goes all in on authoritarianism and completely undermines the rule of law.
Perhaps the only funny thing in this situation will be the shocked faces on the 6 corrupt Supreme Court Justices as Trump has them killed by firing squad on live TV. I wonder what Roberts will be thinking? I hope it’s an image of @therickwilson.bsky.social ‘s face. #ETTD you amoral, hollow shits.
This is not an American Supreme Court. It is an adversarial weapon of mass destruction and should be treated accordingly.
Their boss, Stephen miller, laid down the law…

No wonder why Bovie thinks he can tell judges to fuck off.
MSM describes the court division as one between conservatives and liberals. No, it's between supporters of fascism and supporters of democracy.
God, you’re not wrong, but I’m so fucking tired.
In any respectable business, Roberts would be fired
Not an attorney; closest I get is I have legislative experience. I think this is the 2nd worst decision in U.S. history after only Citizens United. It essentially puts us back in the slavery business while green-lighting contempt.
Are they implicitly suggesting that the 2d Amendment is the only way to petition either SCOTUS or any other govt branch for redress of grievances? No other way to construe its holdings as a whole.
The legal political reporting academic professions will be forced sooner or later to challenge publicly vociferously repeatedly SCOTUS rulings that are flimsy which are mostly issued by conservative judges, s/th that should’ve been done decades ago.
Court-sanctioned murder.
I'm old enough to remember a few months ago when CJ Roberts lamented the declining public trust in the institution. Yesterday: Ah, screw it. Emil, Stephen, Mr. God Emperor - have at it. Go to town.
The Supreme Court does not seem to halt Trump’s rise to dictator with their rulings in all major cases so far. Don’t they get what’s at stake here?
