this is objectively true the college basketball atmosphere is awesome and there's nothing like a march madness cinderella anywhere else in the sports world but basketball-wise, unless you have a fetish for seeing a bunch of semi-athletic kids clanking three pointers, the nba is obviously better

It probably isn't the basketball, since it's probably the sport I least enjoy watching. The tournament does have an excitement that's hard to replicate.

I only started caring about College Basketball because of my school. Didn't realize the University of Connecticut was such a powerhouse in this regard - go Huskies, and go Paige!

I get March Madness, but think this is true for any college sport. I didn’t go to a college that had much of a sports program, but it seems that college sports are tied to the student experience. Just carries over as an adult. Without a connection to the school, why be a fan of a child university?

And I type that as a person that had always wanted to experience a Saturday tailgate/game in an SEC or Big 10 (no, not changing it to whatever they are now) town.

I prefer college mostly because Kansas City doesn't have an NBA team, but three good local college teams 🤷‍♀️

And if you ever want to feel better about NBA refereeing watch a college game.

I love college more than the NBA but a 10 point lead in a college game with 2:00 minutes left and that game is over. NBA, not so much.

I haven’t watched the NBA since right around the Lonzo Ball draft, but I watch college basketball every year. I just love the pure chaos of college basketball, the NBA feels too clinical, too well-executed to really grab me

Also the college basketball regular season having fewer games helps it feel a lot more impactful to me

I don’t have skin in the game, but if this escapes containment, the people of North Carolina and Virginia are likely to have words to say to you

That original post is about the dumbest thing I’ve read today and it’s not on Threads, which is saying a lot. Talk to people from Kentucky and Indiana as well.

When people tell me they prefer watching college ball to the NBA (and they don't have a direct connection to the school or team) it sends up subtly racist red flags.

I mainly watch college basketball, and every time I watch an NBA game I’m always shocked for a minute at how talented every single player is.

There are a lot of factors involved I think. College basketball has the concept of college pride going for it which improves the atmosphere, but that certainly doesn't improve the level of play

And while some people do prefer CBB for the atmosphere, let's just say there are some people who prefer it for reasons that are, to put it bluntly, dogwhistles
