Turns out there are two groups who like hard money; lenders and merchants in low-trust environments. If you've got billions in hard money that no one in a high-trust society wants or needs, the obvious move is degrading a high-trust society for the sake of a low-trust society where you're king.

I distinctly remember being taught caveat emptor in elementary school with the thrust being it was our fault if we got scammed, which in hindsight is kinda messed up. I'm also baffled by anyone can't see what a slimy used car salesman Trump is, so 6 in one, half dozen in the other I guess?

Add in the perception, true or not, that one can blame the machine and plead ignorance/innocence when caught How many have casually lied that they "didn't get that email; must be something wrong with Outlook" and would do exactly the same if caught w/AI plagiarism or worse.

As part of my job I conduct technical interviews for prospective hires. They are remote but the camera is on and I can see people literally typing what I ask them into a chatbot and taking a minute to answer me. As if I can’t literally see them typing and reading the answer.

I've seen a crypto scam completely derail my mom's cousin's comfortable quiet retirement. He's now stuck in the mindset of 'i got myself into this mess so i need to get myself out of it' lesding to more and more desperate attempts to get his crypto back and getting scammed over and over.
