Someone please, please tell me that I'm just *missing* the copyright evidence for SPOILER ALERT and AT FIRST SPITE (I don't know if it's too soon for ZOMROMCOM to show, but.........) 🤯

Oh no, what a nightmare! I hope it's not how it looks.
From what I'm hearing, I think there are A LOT of us whose publishers just...didn't bother to register copyright for at least some of our titles. Which is mind-blowing to me, in the sense that my brain may explode with rage.
That's dereliction of duty and maybe contract violation? It's also incredibly stupid! I was just explaining to someone yesterday why even though we have cover art and a complete manuscript of R's book, we can't proceed with self-pub until I have registered the copyright. It's so basic!
I can't find the copyright registration for The Lily Brand, but I *know* that it was filed because I looked it up years ago. And in the name directory, three works are listed next to my name. However, when you open up the entry for moi, only two of my Dorch books are showing up. Very weird.
That does seem odd.
That is so wrong and as a workflow/process nerd, I am so indignant. There should be a checkbox for “register copyright” somewhere on the list! It should have been checked!
Oh NO I hope it’s just hiding someone. This saga has been infuriating.
*somewhere
Agreed, and I hope so too, belle! ♥♥♥😘
I am so, so, sorry.
If your publisher is European, it doesn't need to be separately registered in the US, it is covered by the Berne (sp?) Convention.
The other two books in the series are. That's so weird. (Or maybe not.)
Yes! I saw All the Feels and Ship Wrecked, so I assumed Spoiler Alert must be there too, but NOPE (as far as I can tell, anyway).
I tried title as well.
Me too. I...don't think those titles got registered. 😭
I emailed Sarah about this last night because A LOT OF US are, uhh.... yeah.
wait WHAT
Yes. Very much that. 😭 You might want to check the copyright records for your own books too, Adib, just in case.
I just did and am relieved to see I'm covered—but was interested to see they were all registered like 3 months after the books came out.
Ok but how do you even check?? 😵
publicrecords.copyright.gov you can search here!
I'm so sorry. This sucks. Wtf do we even work with publishers? At least with the new one, you're within the window to register it still, I believe? For any future legal action, I mean.
I'm still hopeful that I'm simply *overlooking* the listings, but.......I'm probably not. :-(
KJ Charles had better look searching by title (I'm so sorry, so many publishers in breach of contract and being assholes)
Yep. I tried searching for my titles, my pen names, and even my legal name, and as far as I can tell, those titles are still missing. :-(
oh damn, damn damn I'm so sorry.
I've found three entries for your name in the name directory, but weirdly, two of them list exactly the same books. And the numbers next to the names also don't match the number of titles listed when you click open the entry.
I'm so sorry. That sucks.
