One technology I think young folks today don’t appreciate is LED flashlights. I think you have to have used ones with those crappy little feeble incandescent bulbs run by D-cell batteries (or a tiny generator on your bike) to fully value what’s available today
Also "flashlight" was a separate device from "phone".

i had an incandescent bike lighting system (head and tail lights) connected by RCA cables to a rechargeable battery the size of a water bottle, which, yes, was carried in the water bottle cage
