You are getting the Texas bill in the California bill confused. The Texas bill gerrymanders Texas and has passed. The California Bill put a measure on this year’s existing special election ballot for the voters to decide whether to gerrymander CA in response to the Texas gerrymander.
And if they do support it, they are supporting a change in their constitution as their response to something that Texans did. How is that beneficial to the Californian who lives in Fresno or San Diego or Sacramento or Los Angeles for that matter. What has this done to benefit by California citizen?

As for “how it helps the average California citizen”, we are dealing with an administration who militarily invaded & occupied our largest city. We want them out of power as quickly as possible, & passing this one-time exception to our non-partisan redistricting commission may achieve that goal.
I was not confused at all about the two different bills. The Texas bill passed. Texas election maps will be redrawn and new district will be created. Done deal. California by contrast is not a done deal. It’s a plea to do a new deal to the voters of California. Will they support it?
