That's my point Owning something like an assault weapon is not a right Just like driving something without the proper licence in not a right. It shouldn't be anyone can own guns vs no one. Reg gun = license Assault gun = more regulated license

Well that is simply wrong. 2A gives “the people” the right to own military arms, for the purposes of common defense, and that right “shall not be infringed.” So… by default we all have this right to own an “assault weapon” (whatever that is), and the govt has to meet a high bar for revoking that

In any case the analogy just fundamentally doesn’t work, because people can purchase and drive virtually any type of vehicle they want, as long as they dont go on public roads. But you want to restrict a right of private ownership, not just a right to use or carry in public. Not gonna happen.
