Living in Maine we’re about an hour or more away from the ocean. When we saw the Great Lakes I was blown away. It was very much like the ocean and Lake Michigan has those incredible sand dunes. Very nice.

I grew up spending a lot of time on Lake Michigan. Several family members have/had homes on the lake in different cities. There are so many different levels along the coast; just like any of the sea coasts. It’s not as cold as Superior…..which is a Great Lake to fish on.

Check out Ludington & Grand Mere State Park. There are roads near the state park that take you high into the coastal landscape…. Further north there are also beautiful landscapes; that’s primarily where I spent my childhood including spectacular “scenic” views south of the dunes.
