No you wouldn’t be talking to a machine, unless the articles and research you are using were composed by llm. Requesting someone else do work you know you can do is in poor taste.

I was specifically interested in the person's perspective. I thought we were having a conversation, a dialog. That's why I asked. Why that would elicit such strange responses is beyond me, but it doesn't matter. If the person doesn't want to answer, that's fine. I'll go do something else.
