Wait. There's been a chicken pox vax since 1974??? I got chicken pox in 1977. I DIDN'T HAVE TO GET IT? I got shingles in 2013 because I got chicken pox in 1977 and I DIDN'T HAVE TO GET IT??? Excuse me. I'm going to stew on this for a bit.

i tried getting it the last couple years and they say you have to wait until 50. not quite there yet. which is lame as i personally know like 3 people that got it in their 40s and said it is absolutely horrible and you definitely do NOT want it. so i was trying to be pro-active and was denied.

Yea 2 of my siblings got shingles in their 40’s. I think you can go and pay out of pocket under 50, which is still all kinds of bullshit. I got mine the second I turned 50

It wasn’t approved for the US until 1995. I know because I caught it in 1997 as an adult and - barely - could have avoided it.

Yep. I checked bc my daughter had chickenpox in 1986. There’s no way that her pediatrician would have let us down.

That chickenpox vaccine would have been nice. I still have a crater in the middle of my forehead.

Mine's small but it's on my right cheek, right up front.

Polo vaccines weren't generally available until the Sabin oral polio vaccine in about 1960. It took awhile before others to became widely available too.

Nope. The chart is wrong. It became available in the US in ‘96.

The first shingles vaccine, Zostavax, was developed in 1995 but was not available to the public until it was licensed in 2006

No, that date is wrong. The varicella (chickenpox) vaccine was licensed in Japan and Korea in 1988 and was approved for use in the United States in 1995.
