I live in MAGA country in Central New York. MAGAts outnumber non-MAGAts around 10 to 1. I sincerely hope Hochul does this. It'll be quite entertaining to watch the MAGAts heads explode when they get marginalized into oblivion.

I know that area well. Much of my extended family lives in the Central Leatherstocking region, and I spent many childhood summers there (and some winters). We visit as often as we can. It's beautiful up there, but the MAGA culture is depressing.

I'm in that region. Yes, I love it here. Your characterization of the MAGA culture is being too nice. It's stifling at times. It's challenging to keep a tight lip when the ignorance spews like an overflowing waterfall. I smile and walk away. It's impossible to convince zombies otherwise.

I agree, it was too kind, possibly informed by family members in the cult whom I still love and care about. I *do* find that depressing, but as you alluded to, the problem is much worse — tragic, and a dangerous existential threat.
