I had never heard of the existence of the board game Othello until this week's #UniversityChallenge. Anyone played it before?

It's cropped up a few times on quizzes lately. Was it not mentioned in Only Connect or Mastermind last week, as I knew the answer today because it came up recently 🤔

Yeah, I encountered it in the 80s when a red/blue version called ‘Whoops! Scotties’ came free by collecting tokens from boxes of tissues: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/35649958... Then in the 90s Microsoft Windows included a version called ‘Reversi’: betawiki.net/wiki/Reversi
