Best thing you can do is throw some change at people whose newsletters you read a lot. This is how they make their living much of the time, and there are management costs built into this kind of work.

You should read through Anil’s thread. Selling iOS subscription options as a good thing for writers is dishonest given the take Apple takes. And so it looks like a fake value-add that allows Substack to do a backdoor trial run on ending subscriber portability for all by creating lock-in norms.

It does appear freebie people like me can take the audience we built but any new iOS add means you need to market the switch. Ghost ports are seamless judging from some of the writers I follow who made the switch.
