If “British people” want a takeaway they will have to go and get it themselves
If “British people” want a takeaway they will have to go and get it themselves
British pensioners and disabled persons will have to "get back to work" and ride their bikes to deliver takeaways. That's "fairness for British people".
Ew..
That must include continuing to give lucrative contracts to people opposing the values of said organisations
Luckily all of those individual business owners are completely trustworthy and would never doxx that info to their more unsavoury pals from the extremist fringe. 🙃
The lack of courage baffles me. He has a huge majority and a platform that should allow him to control the narrative. Instead, he just meekly follows others. I don't think he even believes this tripe, he's just cosplaying because he thinks that's what people want.
It is EXACTLY what some people want. The snag is, none of them are Labour voters.
I think there are a lot of people who think this is what they want because they are constantly told it is what they should want. Labour could and should challenge that narrative and be the shepherd rather than the sheep
Just the poor foreigners though. Rich foreigners who don't pay taxes? Oligarchs with dodgy off-shore funds? Come on in!!
1. If they are working illegally that means they are most likely being paid a pittance (below min wage), pay no tax, pay no NI, have no access to benefits, healthcare etc., (i.e. they are NOT a drain on UK tax payert). 2.They are delivering British people their fast food. 3. How many British people
would do what these 'illegals' are doing for the same wage, lack of benefits, lack of healthcare etc? NONE!
I genuinely think he's being paid to be a total shit show
I’m no politician and don’t follow football, but I understand in football these days, professional fouls and playing dirty are all an accepted part of the game. Politics has never been a true gentlemanly sport.
WTAF? I remember despairing at the Tories because of their corruption but in my head I kind of expected it. I know Labour had to walk a fine line to win the election but I'm SO disappointed with how they're trying to deal with the threat of Reform rather than putting a +ve vision for the country.
This is who they are, Keir is a racist and xenophobe and May as well be a Tory
Golden rule. Never debate with idiots. Kid starver is trying to join them
Ok, what if some of those people have been processed and accepted but can’t actually find any other accommodation, do they just get kicked out into the streets? After all cheap accommodation is difficult for British citizens let alone asylum seekers with little or no money.
Starmer ready to hand out lists of potential under-the-table employees to food delivery services. Also, how long until these lists find their way to the rabid right-wing thugs, aka 30p Lee et al.
Most of these delivery services are totally reliant on immigrant Labour. People will have to shop for themselves!
What's his definition of British people?
Revolting man!! I detest him and his party!!!!
Perhaps he should direct his kicking boots at foreigners taking over British newspapers, like, you know, the Daily Telegraph.
Cutting vital aid to Africa - more people on the way, Keir.
Alt text: "We're cracking down on hard-working people".
So businesses are illegally employing people with no right to work and we don't crack down on the employers?
That was my first thought too.
Island of strangers? Wonder if he read this post?
I did not vote Labour to get Reform Lite.
Attacking the effects, ignoring the causes. Tiresome.
Meanwhile, Labour are going backwards so fast that they're in danger of being overtaken by the Tories. RW voters will go for Reform or the Tories even more now that their horrid views have been confirmed by Labour. (It's impossible to argue against what you also agree with.) x.com/luketryl/sta...
Not sure now if McSweeney is trying to destroy Starmer like Cummings did with Johnson. Whatever it is Downing Street is now not only tone deaf but stone deaf.
The Green Party are offering an alternative vision bsky.app/profile/zack...
The daft thing is that the racists and xenophobes who bray for this sort of thing will give them zero credit for it.
May just as well publish a list of asylum hotels just as far-right marches (riots) are kicking off!
Asylum seekers should be able to work. It would help them learn the language, integrate into British society, support themselves, pay taxes which takes away most of the arguments of why 'we don't want them here'. Everything but their skin colour but we don't mention that, that'd be rascist!
So is this asylum or illegal immigrant? An asylum seeker wouldn't get as far as the UK cos there are so many safe countries to offer shelter before the UK and an illegal immigrant shouldn't be allowed to conduct a "normal life" because then you might as well do away with legal immigration.
You misunderstand the law surrounding safe countries.
Hotels are getting burnt and mobbed, the local populace is at boiling point and the undercurrent is pushing for massive social unrest so I think you may misunderstand the safety offered to these people in the UK. Rwanda should have been left to run it's course.
Rwanda was an expensive joke! There was only going to be a small number of asylum seekers sent, @1%, so really not a deterrent or an answer to having so many asylum seekers in hotels. Applications need to be processed faster - something the Tories didn't want as they use these poor people for votes!
That's why it should have been left to run but fixed to send more and work as a deterrent, 2019 we had EU professionals migrating over here now we have internationals from 3rd world countries dumping themselves in the UK
Funny that. No-one predicted that would happen as a result of Brexit 🙄 Rwanda was a ludicrous scheme! There are a myriad of solutions, that isn't one of them!
Like Farage, Starmer uses the terms "illegal migrants" and "asylum seekers" interchangeably.
He thinks will defuse tensions over the summer. If anything, it simply legitimises people's bigoted anger. "See even Starmer thinks they are hurting British workers"
It's ok to have a different opinion, how would you feel if I nipped around to your house, borrowed your car, used your kettle, spent your money, slept in your bed and when you got home I asked for permission to do it? So why rock up on the shore saying now I'm here what you gonna do for me.
Not the greatest example but that is how people are feeling. When they limit families to 2 kids in a declining population and import people from other countries it causes confusion, people don't understand the second / third generation benefit they just see the immigrant.
Absolutely. You can't make an argument against the things you're in agreement on.
I wonder what the actual stats on this are? How many ‘illegal’ workers are we talking here? And how many British People are ready to take on those delivery jobs right now?
