To be fair, comparing the US before Trump to a 4-star hotel is a bit of a stretch. In 2016 it was barely 2-star rated. We didn't have rent caps, we didn't have universal healthcare, we didn't have a living wage. At worst, Trump has turned it from a 2-Star establishment to one with a 1-star rating.

My post wasn't a metaphor for anything. The government has taken over "4* hotels" for housing asylum seekers waiting for their asylum applications to be reviewed. Our RW press claims they're therefore getting 4* treatment. I summarised the reality.
I got what you were saying on the second reading (after I posted my first response). I wasn't saying your post was metaphorical. I'm saying it can be USED as a metaphor for what's happening in the US, so that's what I'm doing by leaving up my first response.

All the government needs to do is change the T&CP Use Classes Order to include refugee hostel in the same class as a hotel. They can do it by Statutory Instrument. Would save a lot of court time.

I stayed in 4 star hotels 4 nights a week for 20 years. I had the room to myself. I had the best food and wine available from room service. My room was cleaned and linens replaced every day. And I hated it.
