The more Labour stampede right, the emptier the vacuum for the LibDems to go "Let's just ****ing rejoin the EU already!" and snaffle up votes. But it would need to be a loud, proud and sustained message. Not a policy line item on their website, but front and centre in all comms. 2025 is NOT 2019.

Fib Dems have always been the weakest party in the UK.

They don’t seem willing to fill that vacuum.

Had to look up who the hell the Lib Dem leader is these days. I thought they'd be a Facebook subsidiary by now.

I could see many people being comfortable with that option. Many who in the past would have voted Labour but actually now despise Starmer's Labour also the sensible pro EU elements of the pre UKIP conservate party so I think you may be on to something here plus add a focus on a sensible green agenda🤔

I was going to add that cooperation on target seats with the Greens might be an idea. LD's I think cut through to a more mature demographic.Greens appeal to younger voters I like some of them like Jenny Jones always sensible my vote will be either or LD or Green depending who is best placed 🤔

Too weak. Won't move the needle on the number of seats they need to disrupt the 2029 election. I can understand completely why they wouldn't want to merge, but nothing short of a merger will push the Greens into anything other than "other parties include..." status.

Being bold and being different might just be in-touch with the majority of people who don’t want Reform, Reform-Conservative or Reform-Labour. Rejoin, a Lib Dem / Green coalition?

A merger would be needed, rather than a coalition. That way, they collect the votes that would have gone to both parties.

Just something positive. Something looking at bigger issues. Just something with a nod to the future of this country. I think any party that promised not to mention asylum seekers and hotels would do very, very well…..

The Spectre Haunting Europe @frightfulhobgoblin.bsky.social

You're not rejoining the EU lmao. Also, LibDems are unprincipled piss diamonds who enabled Tory austerity for 5 years. They ran on free education and then tripled tuition fees. They voted for benefits cuts in exchange for the 5p plastic bag tax. Utter scum tbh.

Sounds like you want the greenparty rather than the lib dems. The lib dems dont have the teeth for what you are asking. @zackpolanski.bsky.social does

No. The Greens are never going to have many more MPs than now. Even with a performance far exceeding their best ever, they might get a dozen. And that's being extraordinarily generous. Whereas the LibDems have room to grow further driven by the right policy.

You should put the lottery on with predictive skills like that. The lib dems have never shown they can be anything other than a 3rd party. When they got a sniff of power they turned their backs on the generation that put then there. They have 0 chance of getting that trust back.

At the last election, the LibDems put on their best performance since 2010. Why do you think they will go backwards from there?

Because my generation has long memories when it comes to the university fees and weather conscious or otherwise that won't be forgiven. There are those that blame the lib dems for taking a generations future. I'm one of them, I'm not uncousious about it. You lot dont care and its obvious its fake.

The LibDems enabled the Tories and brought in University fees, so cannot be forgiven. They are not the good guys or an acceptable alternative. The Greens are the only acceptable alternative.

The Greens are not an acceptable alternative, because they're not going to win more than a handful of MPs under FPTP. (People can vote for whichever party they like. But we need to take the real world as it is. And in the real world, the Greens are never going to be an electoral force under FPTP.)

So no LibDems, no Greens. Labour are screwing up their mandate. Tories are lost. Never Reform or any other fascists. So basically the whole political panoply is not fit for purpose? What a sad situation to be in.

and I haven't, and will never, forgive the LibDems. or the Tories. Or BNP/UKIP/Reform. and Starmer is getting very close to being crossed off my Xmas card list. Robert Habeck is free - maybe we could ask him to join the UK Greens and give them some good leadership. Reform would go fecking nuts 😀
