It it really that hard to listen to trans people when they tell you he *would* be that harmful for them? I get it, he'd be less harmful for *you* and you hope people will vote in a way you think protects *you* but we just went through this with people who didn't want to listen re: Gaza.

Trans issues go before courts. Court appointments matter. Maybe they don’t matter for you, but they do for a lot of other people, trans or not.

He’s the most pro trans governor in California history and no trans people are not great determiners of who should and shouldn’t be president as per *checks notes* most trans accounts on Bluesky.

Ironically and tragically some of the people falling into this trap last year were trans people, and well, it didn't work. We can't just say someone's life is expendable because we think that will be our salvation. It won't be. Don't let trans people die, don't let Gazans die, etc. Y Punto.

I was specifically addressing the claim that electing Newsom would be worse than electing a Republican. IMO, it wouldn’t be, because the court appointments would be different. And yes, that’s a big deal. It’s not about salvation or saying someone’s life is expendable, but courts matter.

The claim was that *for trans people* it could be worse. Perhaps you should listen to trans people on this one?

What's to say he won't appoint anti-trans or racist, Islamophobic court appointments?? He's not different, he just wears a different color tie to meetings with the same donors as republicans

He has a history of judicial appointments in California. And really, it’s likely that any Democrat in the running for the nomination would be better on court appointments than any Republican. Yes, I think his appointments would be better than those of a President Vance, Rubio, or Kennedy.

I do not want Gavin Newsom to be the Democratic nominee, and I will actively work in opposition to that. Newsom is just generally bad on human rights in general (trans rights, rights of the unhoused.) But the judges he’d appoint would be far better on these issues than, say. Vance judges.

It doesn't matter what he would do, because he would lose because of what he would do. No Democrat is going to win without minority groups willing to stick their necks out enough to organize and volunteer for them, and that's just not happening for Newsom because [see above].

I don't care-- that was the argument for voting for Clinton and Biden and republicans just Stonewall them or democrats put forward judges that a basically conservative to appeal to them and they attack them anyway
