if Republicans can ignore rulings, I don't see a problem here for Democrats to do the same

The difference is, these folks aren't sockpuppets for oligarchs like the Republicans, so they can't just tank $10k/day fines. It might be worth it, or it might not. That depends on the outlook for appeals.
