And a ton of people are also saying “Yeah, but Herzog is just a figurehead. He’s not the one making policy or who should be arrested.” ….but he’s now the one telling us not to take what cabinet members say as fact? Ok. Lying for these people is like breathing for us.
Itamar Ben-Gvir is minister of National Security. And Herzog is saying ‚yeah, but do not pay attention to him when it comes to national security‘?
Is Herzog expressing a statement of fact, or a statement of wishful thinking? As long as evidence lacks of the former, I choose to believe the latter.
It is not the first time I read the ‚don‘t take them seriously‘ line. I think it is part of a process of trying to comfort yourself. ‚No, I am one of the good guys, this is just a necessary compromise‘. But while I understand that Herzog wants to believe that, it remains utterly wrong.
Depends on interpretation of intent ? IMO saying 'we currently have no plans to ...' doesn't necessarily mean there is no intent. See Ireland's intervention in the case before the ICJ www.icj-cij.org/case/192/int...
"intent can also be inferred ... where a reasonable person would have foreseen that the natural and probable consequence of the acts of the perpetrator was to so destroy or contribute to destruction of the protected group, and the perpetrator was reckless as to whether those acts would do so"
