Why is that? Read the article and it's clear the U.S.A is not engaging in 'diplomacy' with Canada but rather in intimidation and extortion and attempting colonization. These are things that fundamentally change our relationship with them and pretending it does not just emboldens them to continue.

Compare the approach to Trump to the approach taken to Hitler and you will see all too many similarities. Didn't work then and is just as ineffective today. Appeasement is equivalent to emboldening. The sooner you understand that, the better.
