I dislike trump but if a private company wants a bailout then they should give up a stake in their company. A stake that when the company is solvent can be sold so that the tax payers get their money back (with interest).
I agree up until the part where it is sold. That may be appropriate in certain cases, but there is no reason to sell off an asset that’s generating good revenue. Tax payers created the prosperity! they should reap the rewards and have voting power in the capital allocation and policies of the corp

Weirdly, this could be rational for Intel even with a rational US Government. Intel has had extremely serious problems with its manufacturing over the past 10 years, and is making massive losses pouring money into new processes trying to catch up.
It's trying to get other companies to use its factories, but it has a serious credibility problem: both "will it work" and "are they going to turn the money off". With the US Government as investor, it's harder for them to walk away, making their manufacturing operation more viable.
Who is the Times biggest shareholder? I know it's a publicly traded company, so I'm thinking Vanguard. But anyhow, they are the only ones who set forward change at this broken institution. Pressure works in both directions.
I'm wondering, with all these agreements, how much of it is kicked up to 🍊 himself.
