Till 2041! That is 'all-in'? Seriously?

1. That shit does'nt grow on trees and decades of downsizing German and European defense industry has it's effects 2. You need skilled people to drive these tanks and operate the other equipment, and guess what, they also don't grow on trees.

This was a bad idea, pushing Germany into a war stance. Russia is about to be reminded why Germany was such a serious threat in the 40s.

Tanks? Have they learned NOTHING from the drone war?

Calm down, the latest generation KF51 and Leo2A8 can defend against drones (TROPHY).

Maybe one or two. Will they withstand a drone swarm? Drones are evolving way faster than ancient "put a gun on a turtle" tactics. With a price tag of less than $1000 each, AI swarm capability, and shaped charges, no modern tank will stand a chance. $30,000 worth of drones will kill $million+ tanks.

According to NATO standard protocol, MBT are always deployed in combined arms combat: air defense is always present. This means that Skyrangers with airburst ammo turn the drone swarm into a cloud of scrap particles.

Sure my friend, sure. Let's not learn and evolve doctrine. That always worked so well.

They do! It's always a cat-and-mouse game. Right now, drones are winning. But if there are defense measures suitable for series production, such as spoofing, HPM, HEL, TROPHY, AirBurst, etc., the MBT is and will remain indispensable in the field.

I'm not so sure. Ukraine is already deploying ground drones with heavy weaponry. Why put humans at risk when you can just send a chunk of metal in first, then send in humans after the battle is over?

You are right. Ground drones will have a major impact in the future, that's for sure. Imagine a remote-KF51. But currently, they can be jammed, their range is poor, their firepower is weak compared to an MBT, and in case of a breakdown, you still need a crew.

Drones can be jammed, taken down by active defence systems fitted to latest generation tanks. Have a look at Trophy system. These systems can be adjusted to take down drones. Drones have a place in warfare, but they are not the end of the conversation youtu.be/5M3wJvB-Zu8?...

At this point, you can't jam a fibre-optic controlled drone. Soon, we'll be talking about AI controlled independent drone swarms with autonomous strike capacity that can't be jammed. Drone technology will evolve WAY faster than tank technology.

Drone evolution doesn’t mean it’s just a negative for tanks, as tanks could use drones more and more in the future. The issue looks bleak right now, but not a single tank has been designed with drones in mind yet. Imagine tanks designed to counter drones, deploy drones, and use drones.

drone technology is what has led to trench warfare in Ukraine. You need heavy tanks and air power to break out of trench warfare. Jamming is a soft kill method, APS is hard kill. Its not out of the realm of possibility of adding small lasers to APS to dazzle the drone cameras.

This would be a commitment to approximately 0.47% increase in annual defense spending over the next 16 years. Not nothing, but basically irrelevantly small if this is all. Are you sure there's not something missing here, this should be closer to 2.5 trillion Euros on the low end.
