Really? My friend Angelo and his wife [she was Swedish) moved back from Sweden because they were paying 50% income tax. And in my other post I state that the VAT is included in the price. It's 25% on goods. It's why things are expensive in Sweden. I've been there. Have you?

"The cut-off point indicates at what income level one begins to pay state income tax. For the income year 2025, the cut-off point is SEK 643,100 per year, which corresponds to a monthly salary of approximately SEK 53,600 before tax."

So as a "normal" tax payer you don't pay 50% tax. The rich pay more tax ;)

Income tax rate of 20% over $66k. There's also a Municipal tax on ALL earned income and no exemptions - everyone pays it from 29% to 53%. The average is 33%. So even if you make a low salary you're paying at minimum 29%. If you make say $70k you're paying 53%. There's also a 30% Capital gains tax.

I pay 31% and am ok with that as it benefits all, and there may come a day when I need something and it’s there for me <3

So it works for you because of your lower income you only pay Municipal tax. What about those who pay both? They'd be paying 51% in your area. 🤷‍♀️

Not the whopping 29%- 34% you pay. US State Income Tax breakdown 9 - No State Tax 13 - 2.5% - 5% 23 - 5.02% - 9.85% 6 - 11% - 14.78% _____ 50 States

and what does it give you back? Almost free healthcare & such? I mean this is all a bit more complex than just sitting here talking about tax. It's a whole system of course and there are (good) reasons behind it.

You're the one who denied people pay 50+% income tax in Sweden when some do (and not just the wealthy). How the money is collected is what's different. You're not getting anything for free - you're paying for it through high taxes. The United States can afford free higher education at Community...

yes because of the way you wrote it it seemed like that is the general tax, which it isn't, and I said almost free. Of course ou tax money goes to things like this - which is the point.

...Colleges and should offer it in all States. Some states already offer free tuition to Community College and/or Public Universities to state residents. Sweden government is right to set the prices for medical services and prescription drugs. The U.S. government must do so as well.
