i'm not? do you not see that telling square enix right in their face about mods will just make them take action and remove all mods. The best course of action would be to remain silent and avoid discussing mods around square enix, rather than sending a petition directly to their face.

Do you not see that people are clearly unhappy and that while it does fly in the face of the ToS, they've been allowed to enjoy the game the way they'd like to up to this point?

I don't blame them for starting a petition because the company keeps operating like it doesn't know these are things that people want and command subscriptions. By allowing them, the company itself has been allowed to succeed more than if it didn't.

Sorry if I misunderstood you, but I think that people should bring up if they're unhappy with these developments and vote with their wallets or petitions or whatever.

Doing this is counterproductive to what they're trying to accomplish at best, and sabotaging other mods at worst. Like I said, the best thing to do is keep quiet, not say anything, and wait for another mare replacement to be made.

should square remove mods? no. but can they? yeah, why not, it's in their TOS and it's their game and they can do so at anytime

Obviously they can. The point is that it is pretty upsetting to a large portion of the community. I flat disagree with you that people should just roll over. And it's disingenuous to suggest they do so just because you think it will be bad for other mods.

The reality is that the other mods have a tenuous existence regardless and that the company should actively work to be less harmful to its modding community.

I don't really see a point in simply reveling in the fact that the game is going to be hurt because square can't properly take care of it or the community they have allowed up to this point.

Most mod makers and plugin maker say to not bring attention to these whatsoever. Mare goes down and people lose their shit over it? Those that have been modding ffxiv from the beginning know to not bring attention to it, but for some reason, that has been tossed into the trash.

I get that it’s upsetting to lots of players in ffxiv that used mare or use mods in general, but SE has to follow laws that are laid out in all countries they abide in.

if youre sad about mare being struck down, want mods to be in the game, voice your opinions on the official forums, spread the petition. I wont be doing any of this because I think it'll have the opposite effect causing SE to be more strict 3rd party tools, killing the game even more (no ACT etc)

I don't think either of us wants the game to get worse or die.
