I don't, but they keep us too poor to leave. Our min. wage is $7.25 an hr. Waitressing pays $2.13 an hr. + tips. No one tips in red states & employers never make up the difference. Wage theft is rampant.

Bingo! I HATE living in AL but we’ve been renting a 3bdrm house, not apartment, for 700/mo for the past 6 years!! I’m from CT originally, but I really want to move to Maine or upstate NY. The cost of living is so much more up there tho.

Average wages in Maine are $15,000 higher. Worth a move. At some point quality of life has to matter.

True. I also have a disabled 5yo who has many therapies so I need to make sure wherever we go can accommodate him in that way as well. It’s tricky but we’re trying to figure it out.
