Now think about how that hostility might be further agitated by that statement being immediately followed up with "and now you squandered your chance to get me to care because you weren't nice to me." It's an INCREDIBLY off-putting first impression.

My issue with you has been very explicit from the beginning. I believe navel-gazing is shitty behavior. Maybe you don't know this, but people can tell if you don't know and/or care about a thing you're talking about without being told you neither know nor care. I was hostile towards bad behavior.
