Among the things I'm proudest of, coming off this most recent season of American Vandal, is the role it played in popularizing Yanis Varoufakis's technofeudalism thesis, especially amongst AV's primary listenerships in academia/labor. But in this case, clearly reaching beyond our usual demos. 1/2

I bought the book after listening to the back-half of the latest season. It's a very conversational read, at least so far, which I very much appreciate.

I know people are already teaching these episodes, as I can see the backlinks from LMS. To assist such efforts, as I did with the HBCU arc from earlier in the season, I've created a landing page for the "Technofeudal Trilogy" with accessible readings by @yanisvaroufakis.bsky.social & many others.

What differentiates techno feudalism from rentiier aristocracy from rentier capitalists? They're all just groups who skim off the top of everything. Is it that techno serfs supposedly pay with content instead of money? Tell that to Netflix who will not accept my cat videos for payment, only $$.
