The truth is that the Second Amendment is supposed to protect our right to a well regulated state militia (The National Guard) not prevent gun regulations.

The NRA has leaned heavily into pushing lies about the Second Amendment protecting people's rights to own any type of gun and ammo over anything else because they represent gun and ammo companies that want more sales.

The Framers wanted to ensure that the militias (again, what we call the National Guard today) maintained more loyalty to the people in their state than the Federal Government.

That's how the 2nd A fights tyranny, because the well regulated state militias are comprised of members of the communities where they would be deployed (domestically). They called it the moral check, as few people would subjugate their families, neighbors and co-workers.
