I swear, it's like rich conservatives, and the politicians they back, are just obsessed with strip mining the resources of America for personal gain. There are no thoughts thought beyond "me", "now", "all of it". A natural result of the GOP fetishizing individualism for decades, of course.
The decades long American conservative project relied on the idea that society will end up at the ideal spot if everyone did what was in their best interest at all times. We are living through the conclusion of that. Religious extremists on the bench, rubber stamping an authoritarian rise.
