Do you think it's more likely that Zack will form a government after the next election than Labour doing so?
Do you think it's more likely that Zack will form a government after the next election than Labour doing so?
I think that we’re doomed to reform because this government is kowtowing to reform on almost every issue. I do think however that Zack has the ability to help to shift the conversation. Who know perhaps he can form some kind of alliance with another political party as the lib dems did. Perhaps the
Lib dems and the greens with another party, I think that will be more beneficial than blindly following labour at this point.
Okay, but nobody here was advocating blindly following Labour.
At the moment I don't think that's the relevant question. The question should be "will he be a constant voice in the media offering a left wing alternative to people disenchanted enough to give Farage ago". Right now in 2025 we need people shifting the needle away from the far right.
I get that but I would say people like Zack preach mostly to the choir. Not sure there would be many conversions. I may be wrong.
that choir used to be labour voters Duncan.
I'm not sure they did.
Seriously? You don’t think the Labour Party has haemorrhaged lgbt people to the greens?
I'm not sure we've seen evidence of that, though they absolutely deserve to lose the support of LGBT people. But I was responding to your broader suggestion that Zack represents someone to whom former Labour voters (in England & Wales) are currently turning. I'm just not convinced that's true.
Lots of us have moved to the greens and lots of us will be snookered it the Adrian and the other lady win.
I suppose that illustrates my position really, in that I think - as in the past - the fight for LGBT rights has to be fought *within* parties, not *just* as a broader political effort pitting party against party. Fixing Labour is essential for restoring and improving trans and wider LGBT rights.
He's not won the leadership (yet) so it's early days. He does seem to understand that someone needs to aggressive put himself in the media and talk about issue frankly. Doesn't mean the Greens will win but it might influence other parties.
