anyone like Tapper, making the money he does, living in the very, very nice neighborhood in DC that he lives in, has too much to risk of course, journalists should be well-paid, but making that kind of money, in a world of savage layoffs, means you've lost your independence

I think this is true of everyone in the US who's getting paid decently but is pinned down by *any* kind of significant liability (e.g., child care costs, mortgage, loans, medical). Why pick a fight with your boss when there are so many homeless already?

Tapper makes a fraction of what Maher does.
