The December 2024 piece below by @stankutcher.sencanada.ca and @popovaprof.bsky.social summarizes the issue for Canada well. “Moscow’s disinformation is often shared unwittingly by Canadians who don’t know its origin or purpose. Canada needs to fight it with stronger actions.“
With extremist AfD's Christine Anderson doing a tour in AB starting June 27th I'd strongly agree stronger action is needed
💯 Hoping this time her tour is blocked or at least gets lots of extra attention from Canadian security agencies, now that Germany has found AfD to be incompatible with democracy and designated as “right-wing extremist” force.
The white nationalist directors of Trinity Productions helped organize the convoy as well as hosting Anderson so I hope they get the same.
💯 Like other Western democracies, Canada needs to defend itself much more vigorously vs. internal and external actors that aim to destroy our democracy + sovereignty.
yes and we Canadians could stand to up our understanding on the difference between freedom of expression and slander/libel, defamation, misrepresentation, threats, subversion ... too many believe they can say anything they please - better laws are needed. Leaving it up to lawsuits isn't good enough
Oh my. I did not know about this. At whose invitation???

Not clear precisely, but June 27 Calgary event is being promoted by the usual constellation of “freedom”/anti-vax sites. Wonder if this time any MLAs or MPs will meet with her, claiming to be “unaware” of her views. Especially given Germany’s recent designation of AfD as right-wing extremist force.
