FDU ‘82 alum & Democrat here. Pre-2016, I had good relationships with GOP friends/family. Anyone who supports Trump & today’s GOP has no standards for decent behavior. I don’t respect these people & I don’t want them in my life, regardless of who they are & what they may have once meant to me.
Talking at people- not with them, but at them- serves as a display of knowledge about it make coded areas of expertise (like politics). So it makes sense that the response - not wanting to see someone- would be one sided. The other side is ok with not talking about areas of disagreement!
