Doomerism is rational. The systems that prop trump up have gotten much better at applying constant omnidirectional downward pressure and managing how quickly that pressure increases. We have NONE of the social flexibility that made previous antifash efforts - the civil rights era etc - work.
Trump's gonna die, but the systems that oppress us will remain. Elections no longer matter because we have no faith in our systems to maintain them. People will get through this, but people are also going to die. Trump being unliked only matters in a world where he hasn't gone fully mask off.
We aren't quite there yet. It'll come with the outright violence.
Like yes, we can work towards a world that looks better on the other side of this, but that doesn't mean the weight we're carrying doesn't require...some maudlin...ity.
A lot of my previous rant got triggered by someone saying the US was now permanently fascist with a literal 0% of getting out from under it. I don't mind a little rational doomerism, but some of these people are basically pretending Trump has the Infinity Gauntlet.
