In the Mariana Islands Mice are eating the Albatross'alive in the Nest. Very distressing. Google it. It is true. I thought it was a lie. It is real.

Marion Island, Indian Ocean, not Marianas Islands. Real issue though, and also, the mice are attacking adult albatrosses too, not just the chicks.

Not only are they adorable but when they take flight they swoop and tilt en masse. When the sun hits their wings they glisten and twist. Truly amazing to watch over the bay.

Brings back memories of those sweaty, cranky toddlers, who just couldn't get comfortable on a sweltering hot summer night unless they glommed their cranky, sweaty selves on top of me.

Why no one should be driving on a beach.

I saw a number of them on Cape Cod a few weeks ago.

I so hope some day I can visit Cape Cod and Nantucket. I have spent time at a couple of the old whaling villages in CT like Mystic & I never want to leave & feel very connected to these places somehow. I grew up in deepest Appalachia so seeing places outside of that world is like going to the moon.

I'd definitely recommend it. I grew up on Cape Cod and currently live in New Jersey, but I'm recouping from major surgery with family on the Cape. It's a beautiful and unique part of the world.

Oh my goodness — that’s not how you should be spending summer at Cape Cod! I sure hope you are getting better & better every day. Some days aren’t as good as others after a big surgery. Some days I’m like “Wait a minute! I’m not 16 anymore??” Make sure you are getting your favorite meals!
