I’m so tired of having this argument with people. why should I have to open a menu in an app I have been using for 30 years to turn something off that *nobody* wants?

It’s literally always enabled by default so they can inflate user metrics. Any time I’ve used some new AI feature in software is when I either didn’t realise it was running, or when I misclicked for something that used to exist where the AI button now resides.

they’ll just slowly remove all of the non-ai buttons until eventually the GPM responsible gets their promotion because we keep clicking the buttons by mistake.

They keep adding new things that your previous "Fuck off with the AI shit" setting didn't apply to and you have to do it again. It's relentless.
