Accident? If a top gets pinched off or broken, it will usually send out two shoots a response. If you want lots of little colas, you should bend the plant over on it's side and it will force growth all up and down the stalk.

Interesting theory. Kate pointed out that it’s a diploids mutation. It fits perfectly with the leaf spacing and other weirdness.
I get these when bending hollow stem plants. They flatten out and become a crazy cluster. Once had a bud as big as my forearm from it. Have fun
I really want to try that bonsai technique! This gal hasn’t been squished at all. @canna-biskate.bsky.social correctly informed me of the mutation called diploid.
We used to force this mutation by germinating seeds in a solution designed to encourage mutations
I had no idea you could force mutations! I understand why you’d want a triploid mutation is that why you forced it?
That was the idea. It was many years ago. Before my years in prison.. For marijuana crimes. The premise was higher yields, heavier buds. But I found you increase chances of mold when the buds get too dense.
People seem to be growing huge colas now using synthetic nutrients. I’d imagine there are workarounds to mitigate the chances of mold. You guys were ahead of your time!
I grow in pro mix. Steer manure. Wood ash, Bone meal. In raised beds. Over my pets Graves I believe the Graves are the winning touch.
Beautiful plants! Do you grow inside too? I’m using Fox Farms Coco-loco soil, Gaia green organic nutrients (4-4-4 and 2-8-4), and Fish Sh!t. I put worm castings on top of the dry amendments after I refresh them each month.
I have a starting room. Never use it any more I keep it simple. I plant straight into the soil. Inside a solo cup, with the top cut out. As a mini green house. Mark the seed on the side, and it collars the plant with ID.
Looking good!
Beautiful weed.
Thank you!
It looks like a diploid
Yes! I read a quick overview about it and it sounds spot on! That’s exactly what’s happening with the leaves! Like it’s doubling or tripling them. Thank you so much! I’m going to dig in about it.
I’ve never had the diploid mutation but I did have a triploid that survived and flourished. Please if you can keep posting picks… I love the mutants
It’s so cool! Looks like a completely different plant.
It was a true triploid all the way through. It was kinda a pain in the ass to trim but it was an auto that pulled just shy of 14 ounces dried
She was a monster! Did she take longer to flower?
123 days from seed to harvest. She was in the hybrid soil/hydro thing I built and she went beast mode. She filled that 3x3 wall to wall
Cool thing about the “ploids” is that it can effect a single branch or the entire plant.
I was wondering if it was odd that just one branch went mutant.
Not at all, actually more common that way. The plants that go full mutant don’t always make it. Same with when you have twins, one of them will be stronger than the other usually, but not uncommon for both to wither.
Here I was getting jealous of the gigantic weed plants people with whole plant mutations must have. I am so grateful she survived.
Woah! I just read a bit about triploid and the mutation is so interesting! It could be used as a benefit because it renders the plant sterile. It would be a lot easier to grow without worrying about seeds. The flip side is less access to creating your own seeds. I will absolutely keep posting.
Watch out on the yeipoloids that breeders try to sell. The triploid plants from Humboldt all had horrible herm problems and were absolutely not sterile.
Triploids
☹️ I’ll stick to feminized seeds. So many shady business practices.
I have some choice regs for when I finally decide to start breeding. Probably when we buy a house and I’m able to build the grow space I want.
Nice! Would you set up a dedicated breeding area or just use a tent and clean it really well after?
Depends on size of house. We are not wealthy and live in Southern California so likelihood is I will be restricted on space. I will have a separate chamber for males and use the proper merv rated filtration. I dove down this rabbit hole already
It will be fun to see how it shapes up in the end. "Here, check out my weed softball".
🤣 I wouldn’t complain and probably would never shut up about the cool thing I grew that one time.
You earned that bragging right.👊😁
