In the past these decisions were often driven by political considerations. This time it seems to be different. So they are playing best technology (TKMS - if you exclude nuclear propulsion) vs. best price (Hanwha). Who is going to make it?

I think it is not about best price but who can deliver the fastest. That is the Korean advantage.
TKMS have two production lines for the Type 212CD going now, but still have to fill the German and Norwegian orders, of course.
I am guessing they might put Canada ahead in the queue to win the contract. if they don't, that would be industrial malpractice. Just one to get the contract.
Like BAE is expected to do with the Type 26 if they win the Norwegian frigate contract. Or did they actually offer? I don't recall.
