We've failed men & women in the 2 generations born since 1980, when investment in the middle class and communities flowed upward into the pockets of today's billionaires. They can't afford college or home ownership, which are the primary wealth builders, and are bombarded by right-wing propaganda.

But women seem be adjusting better. 65% of women seek higher education. They no long seek to be married and have children. Only 45% of women want that.

I have the impression that's because the social image of women evolved, but men didn't. Women received freedom and selfdetermination, but men were never assigned new values to grow with. Women head the rates because they got the right tools, but men got stuck in the past.

It’s not just a new social image. Women supported each other in a more systematic way to produce change, like women’s health, greater awareness of domestic abuse, etc. The fascists have done the same for young men, except for malevolent purposes.

I'd say they exploit men's isolation to craft an arbitrary merit-based peer pressure system where men are constantly pushed in a direction in order to belong but as it is not a real community they never feel fullfiled so they can more easily pushed to go farther and farther; it's master manipulation

now the question is, how so many other men didn't fall for it and how men who we couldn't assume could fall for it fell for it 🤔?

Trump won the male 18-29 by 49% to Harris 47%. So it’s pretty split. What helped Harris was the Black male vote. So it was the white male vote that helped Trump win.

This is true, but black males have their own misogynist crazies to contend with. Some (like hoteps) don’t believe in voting 🥳. Others run for office (like Gibbs in MI and Robinson in NC)—and lose 🤣.

Getting sucked in by Jordan Peterson is the same mechanism a person enters a cult or an abusive relationship - we have a human mind. If I had a guess, a person's character matters most for when and if you leave.

I think this is a lot of the issue. As a Gen X female, I know I got lots of encouragement my entire life to be bold, that I could be ANYTHING that I wanted to be. Gen X males could either be a reactionary, joining the Reagan Revolution, or be a tofu eating/"sensitive" male.

and well, that sensitivity didn't go anywhere, maleism trampled over what could have been an add up to male mentality

heh, I guess so 😅. Like, thinking twice, their obsession with their sense of masculinity is a quite anachronical posture in the technologically sofisticated society we live in. Their agressive reinforcement of manhood is an effort to keep the old values relevant in a world that no longer needs them

This reminds me of a great article someone wrote at the very end of the 1990s...when Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena: Warrior Princess shows were hot...that in the new, far more complex world we were living in, FEMALE heroes made more sense.

maybe they feel they need those values so badly because they weren't raised to find value in the persons they are but rather in the kind of person they should be 🤔, the Manosphere must then be a maladaptative response to an identity crisis where men aren't allowed to know they can be good people

Well put. & who they think they should be is absolutely joyless, aside from sadistic joy at the pain of others. Guys they look up to like Tate have admitted that they don’t even care about the spoils, they just think that it’s what they should do. No joy even if they make it, & most dont.

it is an Unreachable Horizon trick, every joy in life is negated so they can be wedged into their false solution, proposing horrible antisocial ways so they'll isolate themselves even more until absolute selfdestruction. It is absolutely cruel, as they make their victims too dangerous to be helped

I feel it wasn't enough. Ome of the things I find core in the feminist revolution is that women interacted with the idea that they could exist outside of the perceived roles. I fail to identify a moment where the average man was subjected to a new reality that could benefit him as well.

the usual response is that they werw already in the situation of dominance so they already had the advantage point in their lives, but how real is it? The manosphere mimics the old meaing of masculinity and it's absolutely opressive, and for what we can tell from queer men, ir was as bad in the past
