The early electric stuff is full of subtle wizardry but, when I got Dark Magus, the door was blown off its hinges and a whole new wilderness revealed. Jazz meets funk and noise in a hair raising journey. Also, I first got it in 1994 on Japanese import CDs which gave it the vibe of forbidden fruit.

It’s kind of amazing I can love this stuff so deeply while also loving for instance the Second Great Quintet. So many worlds to explore.

Yes the Japan imports! I gathered up all of Miles fusion in the mid to late '90's. Still some of the wildest shit out there. I love all of it. I have a few of those on vinyl as well that were my father's. Miles really hooked me an took me way out many years ago.
