It doesn’t matter if a majority of people approve of Trump and authoritarianism or if the Democratic Party and the media class and all the quislings hop on board. There is right and there is wrong, and what is happening in this country is stone-cold wrong. We must oppose this. Must.

Is this in response to that dumb ass over at the Times? Clearly they took less than a week to be in the bag for Trump and it has only gotten worse since. It helps their bottom line to normalize him.

Not actually a majority. A majority is over 50%. A landslide is viewed as over 60% (some debate on 10-20% gap. I don't believe every tRump voter understood what they voted for, rather they bought the hate the right sold them. Hope for a brave Senate and House to block the corruption. Ta!

If the most recent votes in the House are any indication i dont believe that there will be anyone in govt that has any intention to block any corruption. I would love to be wrong but what we are seeing is Dems shifting further right and throwing the must vulnerable under the bus.

You’re absolutely right. The only way I would say it matters is that, if everyone in power acquiesces, we’re going to see more people resorting to non-peaceful means.

I agree. I voted against T bc he is appalling. He got richer while in office last time and it will be worse this time. He has two greedy billionaires deciding what cuts in gov spending to make which won't affect them at all. I feel helpless watching all this go down. Not giving up though - Midterms!

Are you registered to vote? What electeds at any level want most is to keep their job or move up. Add all your reps to your address book. Email them with a performance review. Do their votes or actions or talk meet your approval or not? Your vote is your power.

Authoritarianism is systematic abuse meant to grind people down while shifting the Overton window until you’re so far gone you barely recognize the old reality. What we’re watching with capitulation and normalization is predictable, but it is not acceptable.

Right now is a moment to look around, recognize what is happening with authoritarian capitulation, see how reality is shifting. Take stock and ground yourself. See who your allies are and who is auditioning for favorite quisling status. Things are changing in a hurry. Get your feet under you.

The rapid capitulation is jarring (and, as you know, designed to be disorienting). Many held onto hope that the Dems were saviors and are watching as they attempt to make common cause with those seeking to dismantle the very elements of government that (barely) sustain us.

The fact he’s got the backing on his co potus is at least part of why so many are capitulating. Money talks. The threat of obscene amounts of it being used against these guys talks even louder.

I don’t think the majority of people approve of Trump. But I do think enough people disapprove of being complicit in genocide to make it appear that Trump is more popular than he actually is when they chose not to vote. Though I disagree with their choice, I understand what caused it.

They knew what the result of sitting this pit would be. They knew Trump would double down on the genocides. They're more complicit than they would have been had they helped elect Harris.

I agree, and I voted for Harris for those very reasons. That said, the election is over, and all we have control over is how we can work together moving forward. I would like to see mainstream Democrats and leftists stop blaming each other and try to come to an understanding.
